جرمن زبان وسطی یورپ کے ملکوں جرمنی، آسٹریا، سوئٹزرلینڈ اور لختنشٹائن کے لوگوں کی زبان ہے۔ جرمن زبان کا شمار دنیا کی اہم زبانوں میں ہوتا ہے۔ اس کے بولنے والوں کی تعداد 12 کروڑ 20 لاکھ کے قریب ہے۔ دنیا میں سب سے زیادہ ترجمے جرمن زبان میں ہوتے ہیں اور یہ رومن رسم الخط میں لکھی جاتی ہے۔ اسکے کافی لہجے ہیں۔ جرمن صوبے زیریں سیکسنی کے شہر ہینور کی زبان مستند سمجھی جاتی ہے۔ دوسری جنگ عظیم تک سائنس کی زبان جرمن تھی۔
