کالج شہر کے شمال میں شاداب پہاڑی سلسلے کے دامن میں رواں لنگ ندی کے دہانے واقع ہے۔سربلند سفیدوں میں گھرے اس کالج کی عمارت میں کسی بھی طرف سے داخل ہوں تو ستونوں کی قطاریں آپ کے استقبال کرتی ہیں۔کالج 99 کنال پر محیط ہے۔ یہ وسعتیں اور شادابیاں طلبہ و طالبات کے فکر و نظر کے دریچوں کو کھلا اور سرسبز رکھتی ہیں۔
گورنمنٹ کالج کہوٹہ کا سفر 1962ء میں گورنمنٹ ہائی اسکول کہوٹہ سے انٹر کالج کی حیثیت سے ہوا۔ 1980ء میں کالج موجود جگہ پر شفٹ ہوا اور اسی سال کرنل محمد یامین ستی کی کوششوں سے اسے ڈگری کالج کا درجہ ملا۔ 1996ء میں کالج بورڈ آف گورنرز کے حوالے کر دیا گیا اور ڈگری لیول پر طالبات کے دروازے بھی تحصیل کی طالبات کے لیے کھول دیے گئے۔ اس سال (2021ء) سے کالج میں بی ایس میتھ احبیب گوہر (تبادلۂ خیال • شراکتیں) 00:47، 15 جون 2021ء (م ع و)ور بی ایڈ کی کلاسز کا اجرا ہو رہا ہے۔
