اساس آٹھ کا نظام جو کہ انگریزی میں آکٹل نمبر سسٹم کہلاتا ہے، بعض شمارندوں میں استعمال کیا گیا۔ اس نظام میں کل 8 ہندسے ہوتے ہیں۔ یہ ہندسے صفر سے لے کر 7 تک کے اعداد ہوتے ہیں۔ 8 کو 10 سے، نو کو 11 سے ظاہر کیا جاتا ہے۔ اسی طرح 10 کو 12 سے اور اسی طرح یہ سلسلہ چلتا رہتا ہے۔ 18 کو ظاہر کرنے کے لیے 20، 19 کو ظاہر کرنے کے لیے 21 اور 20 کی اعشاری رقم کو 22 سے ظاہر کیا جاتا ہے۔
