ابرخس ایک قدیم یونانی ریاضی دان، فلکیات دان اور جغرافیہ دان تھا جو 190 ق م میں پیدا ہوا اور 120 ق م میں وفات پا گیا۔ انھوں نے علم مثلث، علم مثلث کی جدولوں اور کروی علم مثلث کے کئی مسئلوں کو فروغ دیا۔ ان کے شمسی اور قمری مسئلوں سے انھوں نے سب سے پہلے سورج گرہن کی پیشن گوئی کے قابل اعتبار طریقہ کو بتلایا۔ انھوں نے کئی فلکیاتی آلات بھی ایجاد کیے جن کے ذریعے فلکی اجسام کا برہنہ آنکھوں سے مشاہدہ کیا جا سکتا تھا۔ اسطرلاب اسی کی ایجاد ہے۔
