پلند ایک قدیم قبیلے اور قبیلے کا نام تھا جو برصغیر پاک و ہند کے وسطی حصے میں وندھیا پہاڑ کے خطے میں آباد تھا۔ [1] 249 قبل مسیح سے لے کر 231 قبل مسیح تک ، شہنشاہ اشوکا نے چٹانوں پر جو احکام کندہ کروائے تھے ، ان میں پلندوں کا ذکر ہے ، ان کا دار الحکومت پلند نگر اور اس کے ہمسایہ قبائل ہیں۔ [2] اس سے ، مورخین قیاس کرتے ہیں کہ ان کا دار الحکومت ہندوستان کے موجودہ مدھیہ پردیش کے ضلع جبل پور کے علاقے میں تھا ۔ کچھ دانشور سمجھتے ہیں کہ موجودہ بندیل کھنڈ کا نام "پلند" کے لفظ کی ایک بدلاؤ والی شکل ہے ، حالانکہ اس دلیل پر ابھی بھی بحث جاری ہے۔
تاریخی ذرائع وندھیا خطے کے ساتھ پلندوں کی واضح وابستگی ظاہر کرتے ہیں ، لیکن ان کی قبیلوں کی شاخیں ہمالیہ کے خطے اور آسام تک پھیلی ہیں ۔ [3] ان کا تعلق ہمالیائی خطے میں کیرات نامی قبیلے سے تھا۔
