*اِختھوس*، مسیحیت کی ابتدائی علامات میں سے ایک

ابتدائی مسیحیت سے مراد مسیحیت کا وہ عرصہ جو یسوع مسیح کی وفات یعنی 33ء سے شروع ہو کر 325ء یعنی نیقیہ کونسل کے انعقاد تک پھیلا ہوا ہے۔^[1] تاہم کبھی کبھی اس اصطلاح سے محض یسوع مسیح کے اولین شاگرد، ان کے معاصرین اور ان کے اخلاف ہی مراد لیے جاتے ہیں۔^[2]^[3]^[4]

ابتدائی صدیوں میں جب مسیحیت یہودیت سے علاحدہ ہوئی تو کلیسیا کے لیے یہ نیا دور تھا۔ اس دور میں مسیحیوں پر لازم تھا کہ وہ سلطنت روما میں موجود دیگر ادیان کے پیروکاروں کے سامنے اپنے اعتقادات کا دفاع کریں۔ چنانچہ اس کوشش میں مسیحیوں کو سخت تکلیفوں اور مصائب سے بھی گذرنا پڑا، اس لیے مسیحیوں کی تاریخ میں اس عہد کی خاص اہمیت ہے۔
