اسلام نیوزی لینڈ میں ایک نسبتًا نیا اور چھوٹا مذہبی طبقہ ہے۔
2006ء کی مردم شماری میں 72،360 سے زیادہ لوگوں نے اپنے آپ کو اس مذہت کا پیرو بتایاتھا۔
اسلام کی نیوزی لینڈ میں آمد 1870ء میں مسلم چینی سونے کی آمد کے ساتھ شروع ہوئی۔ ہندوستان سے مسلم تارکین وطن اور مشرقی یورپ کی چھوٹی چھوٹی تعداد میں 1900ء سے 1960ء کی دہائی تک آباد ہونے والے اور بڑے پیمانے پر مسلم امیگریشن 1990ء کی دہائی میں، مختلف جنگ سے تارکین وطن اور پناہ گزینوں کی آمد مسلسل مسلم آبادی کے اضافے کا سبب بنا۔
1950ء میں پہلی مسلم تنظیم نیوزی لینڈ مسلم یونین نے رجسٹرڈ حیثیت حاصل کی۔ پہلا اسلامی مرکز آکلینڈ شہر میں 1959ء میں قائم کیا گیا تھا۔ پہلی مسجد 1979ء سے 1980ء کے بیچ بنا ئ گئی تھی۔
ملک میں وسیع مسلم طبقے کی تنظیم نیوزی لینڈ کی اسلامی انجمنیں 1979 میں رجسٹرکی گئی تھی۔ اس کے پہلے منتخب قومی صدر مظہر کرسنیگی Mazhar) (Krasniqi بنیادی طور ایک البانی کوسویائ ہیں۔ انھیں 2002 میں نیوزی لینڈ کی حکومت نے ایک کویں س سروس تمغا سے نوازا تھا۔ 1982ء اور 1999ء کے بیچ مرحوم خالد حافظ ایک معمر قائد کے طور پر ابھرے تھے۔ وہ بھارت میں پیدا ہوئے تھے اور سعودی عرب کے تعلیم یافتہ تھے۔
