رومی سلطنت میں مسیحیوں پر ظلم و ستم

پہلی صدی عیسوی میں شروع اور چوتھی صدی میں ختم ہونے والی رومی سلطنت میں مسیحیوں کو، وقفے وقفے سے اور عام طور پر مقامی طور پر ستایا گیا۔ اصل میں رومی کافریت اور ہیلینسٹک مذہب کی روایات میں ایک مشرکانہ سلطنت وجود رکھتی تھی، جیسے ہی مسیحیت سلطنت میں پھیلی، یہ قدیم روم کے سامراجی فرقے کے ساتھ نظریاتی تصادم میں آگئی۔ کافر طرز عمل جیسے کہ دیوتا بادشاہوں یا دوسرے دیوتاؤں کو قربانی دینا مسیحیوں کے لیے ناگوار تھا کیونکہ ان کے عقائد میں بت پرستی کی ممانعت تھی۔
