اسکندر بیگ منشی (1560ء – 1632ء) جن کو اسکندر بیگ ترکمان کے نام سے بھی جانا جاتا ہے۔[1][2] وہ صفوی شہنشاہ عباس اول کے دور میں ایک فارسی مورخ تھے جو غز نژاد تعلّق رکھتے تھے۔[3][4][5] اسکندر بیگ نے بیوروکریسی میں محاسب کی حیثیت سے شروعات کی لیکن بعد میں شاہ کا سکریٹری بنا دیا گیا۔[3] اسکندر بیگ نے فارسی تاریخ نگاری کی ایک سب سے بڑی تخلیق، تاریخ عالم‌آرای عباسی لکھی۔[2][3]

اسکندر بیگ آذربائیجانی زبان جانتے تھے۔[6]

Not only did Persians learn another language, but so did the Azerbaijani Turkish speakers, who, despite the fact that Azerbaijani Turkish was the court language, had to know Persian, because it was the bureaucratic and literate language of the land. Shining examples of Qizilbash who spoke and wrote perfect Persian were Hasan Beg Rumlu (author of the Ahsan al-Tavarikh) and Eskandar Beg Monshi (author of the Tarikh-e ‘Alamara-ye ‘Abbasi). But among those Azerbaijani Turkish speakers who were less literary inclined some (or maybe many) made slow progress in learning Persian.
